"...to God, my joy and my delight." Psalm 43:4
"Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." Habakkuk 3:18
One of my few...okay, okay, my many...character faults is I do not smile enough. Often my husband will ask me what is wrong when absolutely nothing is wrong. He asks because I was not smiling. I do not like to look at pictures of myself because I seem to never be smiling, even though I know I was happy at the time of the picture.
When we have Christ in our hearts, we have His joy. Joy in the good times and joy in the bad times. Joy knowing He is there with us. With Christ by our side we have no reason to frown. Even if trouble comes our way, it's okay! God is with us and has His hand on us. We have the promise of a future with Him. So, why frown?
Have you ever heard that a smile is contagious? It is! Give those you see the gift of a smile and most of the time, they will smile back. When you find it difficult to smile, ask God to be your joy and smile anyway! Today I challenge you to simply smile. When someone cuts you off on the road, smile. When your spouse is moody, smile. When the kids do not want to get out of bed, smile. When the dishes need done, smile. When your boss gives you an extra load at work, smile. When someone spills something, smile. Smile in all things!
Let God be your joy and smile!
