Leave Me Alone!

Leave Me Alone
I Am Having A Crisis

That is the bumper sticker I saw tonight.  Leave me alone I am having a crisis.  When I first saw it I thought, "Humph, well then."  But later God spoke to me.  How many people that I see and think are just being rude, are really going through a crisis?

Numerous times I have watched someone hold the door for another and the person walking through the door does not say thank you or even acknowledge the kind gesture.  That is something that has always really bothered me.  But how do I know that person's story?  Maybe they just had a fight with a spouse or got fired from their job.  They could be hurting.

As I am sure we all have, I have been cut off while driving.  Sometimes it is hard not to get irritated with the driver.  But maybe they are on their way home to a sick child or the hospital for an emergency.  They could be hurting.

The rude clerk could be living in an abusive situation and hurting.  The snippy neighbor could have recently lost a loved one.  We do not know everyone's situation.  We do not know the pain they are dealing with in their life.  So instead of mouthing off and getting rude back to them we should try to be kind anyway.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Christ forgave you."  Ephesians 4:32

"Love is patient, love is kind."  I Corinthians 13:4

You never know, maybe your smile is the only one they will see all day. Your kind words could be the only kind thing they hear all week.  Let's try to be kind and love those around us with the love of Christ.

  1. Thank you for this, we have no idea what others are going through. I'm going to work on loving others as Christ loves me.

  2. Amen! I just prayed this morning that God would give me His eyes to see people as He sees them. Thank you for this.

  3. Ouch! My normal reaction when I hold the door for someone that doesn't say a simple 'thank you' is too sarcastically tell them 'thank you.' I never thought about it before, but you are so right...we don't know what they are going through. God help me to be more compassionate and understanding!

  4. Really enjoyed your blog. I am going to try and be more compassionate with others and see them as hurting people looking for love and understanding. I am inspired to try and do my own blog too. Just don't know exactly what to do, but I will try ☺ btw- i love your quote under the about me section.
