Hustle and Bustle

I love holidays!  They are such a great time to get together with family and friends, celebrate the sweet blessings from God, and help others.  I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving this week.

Our family dinner will be at my house again this year.  While I truly enjoy having people over, it can get crazy.  Trying to make sure the house is clean, the table is set just right, dishes are in their spot, and so on.  Even though my mom and grandmother provide the food, I am the one that gets to wake up early and stick the turkey in the oven.  So, it will be a very long and busy day.  But it is always well worth it.

During these very busy times, do we let our time with God slip away?  Do we use the excuse of waking up too early or working all day keep us away from God?  Being completely honest with you, I have done that.  More times than I care to admit.  This morning I prayed this, "God, on Thanksgiving morning, draw me to You.  Let me have the desire to take time out of the hustle and bustle of everything to spend some good quality time with You.  Help me to keep my eyes focused on You and not the craziness of the holiday."  I do not want to be so busy celebrating that I forget God.

Just because we feast on a holiday does not mean we can go without our true Daily Bread.  Friends, on Thanksgiving, take the time out to spend some one on one time with God.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. He should be our priority everyday, not just when it's convenient for us. Thanks for this reminder.

  2. Thank you for this post Jenifer. With all the "Hustle and Bustle" of the Holidays, it's certainly easy for us to focus on everything that's going on instead of remembering to be thankful for all the Blessings God bestows on us. Thank you so much for the well-worded reminder. Have a Blessed Day!
