Silent Night? I Think Not!

I have been thinking of the Christmas carol Silent Night.  It is a beautiful song.  And I am sure that it was a holy and precious night.  But I am not too sure it was a silent night.  I imagine that all of Heaven was rejoicing at the birth of Jesus.

When each of my children, as well as my niece and nephews, were born, our rather large family had the hospital and waiting room packed out.  As soon as word came about the birth there were shouts of joy and praises to God for a safe delivery and healthy baby.  If our family rejoiced over the birth of our children, can you imagine Heaven?  What a party it must have been!

The birth of our Savior.  Can you imagine how awesome that night must have been?  I am so thankful to God for sending His Son to earth for us.  Oh how He must love us.

With only two more days until Christmas, take some time out today to really praise God.  As much as we celebrate our child's birthday or even our own, let's celebrate Christ more.  Let's praise God for sending His Son to us.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. I love the song Silent Night but you are right, it was everything but silent. I am with you there must have been shouts of joy and singing. Why would it be any different with the birth of Jesus, when we shout with joy when our kids are born. Thanks for a beautiful post.

  4. I totally agree...perhaps the silence was at the moment of birth...a silence of 'reverence.' But I believe that after that moment of reverence...there was no longer silence, but as the Word says, the Heavenly Chorus began singing and the glory of the Lord shined bright!!!

Merry Christmas and SHOUT for the Glory of God!

  6. I've never thought of this before, but you're right - it wasn't silent. The Bible says that all of Heaven rejoices when a lost soul returns to God. How much more rejoicing when the Savior of the lost came to earth! Make a joyful noise - the Redeemer is born!

  7. Thanks for this insight. I would have been surprised if this weren?t your position. But the manner in which you described it was to the say the least, ambiguous.
