Today I just want to give you a few things to think about. They have been on my mind lately and I want to share them with you.
What if your child listened to you as well as you listen to God?
"If you love Me, you will obey what I command." John 14:15
"I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands." Psalm 119:60
We want our children to obey us. We even expect them to. When we say "get your shoes on so we can leave," we expect them to jump up, put their shoes on and be waiting. Now, I have four kids so believe me I know this is not always the case. (smiles) But we do expect them to obey us, the first time. Do we obey God that way? Do we go when He says go, stay when He says stay, speak when He says, and listen when He says? We want, desire and expect our children to obey us. We are God's children. He wants, desires and expects us to obey Him.
What if your pastor read his Bible as much as you read your Bible?
"Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long." Psalm 119:97
The past two years I have really been making it a commitment to read my Bible daily, yet honestly I still struggle on the weekends. But before that, I could have easily left my Bible in the car from Sunday to Sunday and never noticed it missing. What if your pastor did that? The man who is supposed to be your spiritual leader, who is supposed to set an example for you and lead you in the way of the Lord. What if he left the pulpit Sunday morning, stuck his Bible on the shelf and it stayed there until next Sunday?
What if God forgave you as hesitantly as you forgive others?
"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13
"Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37
Someone hurts or offends us and we become angry and bitter. We know that we should forgive them, but we choose not to. We are just too hurt right now. What if God forgave you that way? We hurt or offend God and He is just too hurt to forgive us. We went too far this time or didn't ask forgiveness right away and God is offended so He chooses not to forgive us.
My children obey me, so I need to obey God.
I want my pastor to be reading his Bible and following God, so I should be doing the same.
I want God to forgive me for all of my sins, so I should forgive others.
Just something to think about friends.
Sweet Blessings~

I enjoy the Random Thoughts may we apply them to our daily lives, as we yield ourselves to Christ.
ReplyDeleteOUCH! That was the sound of the 2x4 that just knocked me over the head! Thanks for the random thoughts...very eye-opening.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts really gave me something to think about. I expect my children to obey and God expects me to obey. Ok, I get it. Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteWow! Just as Allison said...I got a 2x4 on the head as well. I, too, expect to be obeyed immediately...guess I should practice what I preach, huh! Thanks for this reminder.
ReplyDeleteWonderful thoughts to ponder and pray on Jenifer! I especially like the "What if your child listened to you as well as you listen to God?" question... Quite a bit to learn from that one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for these reminders, and have a Blessed Day!
Wow...you really got me thinking...you bring up some great points! I pray that God ushers in a revival in our hearts, a renewed zeal to dive into His Word and spiritually feast on the bread he provides. I want to be a child of God who honestly can say that God is my supreme treasure and that His law is my delight!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
