The Secret Place

For the past couple of months my husband has been subbing in our kid's Bible study class at church.  He has been teaching the kids about the secret place.  It has been kind of funny to hear some of their answers.  One of the boys says the only place he can spend time with God is in the bathroom, so that's where he goes.  Though some of their answers make me hold back a giggle, it has been so precious to see the kids learn what a secret place is and discover that they can meet Jesus there.

What about you?

Do you have a secret place?

Are you meeting Jesus there with anticipation?

Jesus desires to spend time with us.  He loves us and wants to hold a conversation with us.  I think of a new relationship.  You care about the person and you are eager to spend time with them.  You want to talk to them, listen to their voice, hold their hand, write notes, you carve out time in your day to call or text and you are anxious visit them.

I want to have that with Jesus.  I want to be anxious to spend time with Him.  My Father, a King, desires to spend some one on one time with me, how could that not excite me?

For me, my secret place is my dining room before anyone else is awake.  I have a quiet house with no distractions to talk to God, listen to God, sing, and read His love letters (the Word).  What is your secret place?  Have you meet Jesus there today?

Sweet Blessings~

  1. My secret place is my bedroom or in the car when I'm by myself. Sometimes it's really hard waking up early and my prayers seem tired but other times I can't wait to talk to God, I can't wait for it to just be Him and I.

  3. Hi Jen,
My secret place is in my little office. A very sweet and precious time of the day. I'm about to go there.

  4. This topic was in our new Bible study I lead in the "Frazzled Female." My quiet place is in my closet before anyone gets up. I got trampled by the dog one morning while in the den so I quickly changed locations. No one bugs me in there! Its been a great hideaway and time alone with God!

  5. Thank you for the post. We need our quiet time with the Lord more than anything else. When we have this time, if we listen carefully we can get the answer to questions we need answered. My quiet place is outside. I love seeing the things He has given to us to see and watching the animals. Love you and blessings.

  6. I don't have a secret place that doesn't get infiltrated by the little people. This post is for me... God is leaning on me in the most gentle, but persuasive way to stop making excuses and just come to Him. I think really I need to make a place and train the kids...

  8. My secret place is anywhere I can be alone and quiet with just Him...sometimes it is in the necessary (if you get my drift), but hey-I'm alone there-most of the time :-)

  10. While I try to use any quiet moment I can to "chat" with God, I've always best been able to clear my thoughts and commune with Him directly when I'm walking through the woods. Thankfully, we have a large tract of forest 20 minutes from our home where I can take my camera and go for long quiet walks.

Great post, and have a Blessed Weekend Jenifer!

  11. Lovely post! My secret place is not so secret after all. It’s my bedroom. My sanctuary. Every night I get out my Bible, turn on my favorite music, and spend time in God’s wonderful Word. Not because I have to, but because I want to. :)

I think that we all SHOULD be excited about this, but a lot of times this just doesn’t happen. Last night I fell asleep before I did my Bible reading. When I woke up, it was the very first thing I realized. I was sad. And that’s how we should feel. We should never WANT to miss out on this precious time with the Lord! :)

  12. Great point Sydney! We should be excited to spend time with our Savior. But like you said, that is not always the case. That is my prayer. That I will always be excited to spend time with God.

  13. I only have 1 room in my "home" (I live in a dorm!) so it has to be somewhere there hah!
I prefer to lay on my bed with the curtains opened, seeing God's beautiful nature outside, hearing the birds and then opening my Bible and talking with my Father!
