"Pray continually." I Thessalonians 5:17
The Bible tells us to "pray continually." The King James Version says, "pray without ceasing." Have you ever wondered how on earth we are to pray without ceasing?
We are busy people. Not only are we busy physically, but we are busy mentally. Even if I am able to stop moving and sit down, my mind is running.
So, how can we continually pray throughout the day?
This verse does not mean for us to be on our knees or in our secret place twenty-four hours a day. That is not something that is reachable on a daily basis. Though it may be something wonderful to do from time to time, it is not sensible all the time.
We can pray continually by being in an attitude of prayer and worship all day long. If a need arises and I need to go to God in prayer, it is easy to do so when I have kept an attitude of prayer and worship. If I am angry and moody, it is not easy to turn immediately to prayer.
When we spend time with God in the morning, we are starting the day off with this prayer attitude. Such a great way to start the day! Just because we get up and walk away after the amen, doesn't mean we leave God. He is still with us and listening to us and speaking to us. We can continue this attitude by listening to worship music, saying thank You to God for different things throughout the day, by taking a moment to pray for those you come in contact with.

Pray without ceasing. God wants to talk to us all day long. Today, try to keep an attitude of prayer and worship. Don't say amen and end your prayer. Go to God often. Enjoy praying without ceasing.
Sweet Blessings~
Great post. Unfortunately, I know from experience that it is not so easy to go to God in prayer when I have had a rotten attitude all day! Pray without ceasing...yes, be in a Godly frame of mind...24/7/365! Is it possible...I believe it is, but it will definitely take some work!
ReplyDeleteThere have been times when I pray and I don't realize it at first and when I do it is amazing. God has been with me the whole time. I don't do this often but it makes me realize I can do it. Thanks for a great post. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteWe are truly experiencing His friendship when we are moving and talking out our life with Him. He is there always... running our thoughts by Him is as effortless as the the thoughts themselves come. And, His voice is clear when you're listening :)
ReplyDeleteHow many times do I say "amen" and walk away. I need to learn/remember to take all my worries, cares, and concerns to Him in prayer. Thanks for this reminder.
ReplyDeleteAmen! This goes right along with the Discerning the Voice of God study I'm doing right now. Seeking Him is a continual thing...not just a few minutes a day!
ReplyDeleteWonderful reminder Jenifer! One of the things I've been focusing on over the past year is seeking God's Presence in all aspects of my day. The more we open ourselves to His Voice, the more we can serve His Will for us.
ReplyDeleteHave a Blessed Day!
