Too Loud!

At any given time you can walk in my house and hear the dogs barking, my sons pounding on the drums, the kitchen radio going and the girls playing.  It is loud!  Some days the word loud doesn't even begin to describe my house.

Yesterday I had the music player on my phone playing my favorite worship music because I just wanted to worship and hear God.  Then all of the above mentioned things happened.  Dogs, drums, games, kids, noise.  I could hardly hear the music let alone hear God due to all the noise.

Do you have noise going on in your life blocking the voice of God?

Psalms 46:10 tells us to, "Be still and know I am God" and    Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."  Sometimes we need to find a way to block all that noise so we can be still and fix our eyes and ears on Him.  For me, it was leaving the boys to their drumming, the girls to their games and the dogs to barking at the birds out the window, and going out to the deck for a few minutes.

What noise is blocking you from hearing God?  What can you do to be still and fix your focus on Him to praise Him today?

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Love your post. To many times we let all the noise in and push the Lord out. It is time to push the noise out and let the Lord in. We need to hear what He has to say to us. Thanks for the reminder. Love you and blessings.

  2. Love this Jenifer, God is speaking directly to me through all this. I've been telling Him for a week that my house is too loud I can't hear Him and through-out the day when I'm with the kids I really can't hear Him. Maybe I should start listening better during naptimes. Thank you for this great post.

  3. God has been speaking this to me lately too. This morning I just sat for a few minutes in His presence and I was able to hear Him loud and clear. We have to be deliberate if we want to hear His voice.

  7. Dropping by from the blog party to say hi and welcome.

I have a similar situation going on, 2 girls make one noisy house! I'm fortunate that I am usually able to have Sunday afternoons to myself, but listening to God does need to take more priority. That sitting still and listening does not come natural for sure!

Hope you have a great time at the party this week and will stop in and say hi when you get the chance!

  9. I feel your pain Jenifer... Four little yappy dogs, a cat, two rambunctious boys and a plethora of other noise sources can make finding Stillness very complicated upon occasion. I'm convinced that may be one of the reasons that I've been an insomniac for most of my life... In the wee hours of the evening I hear His Voice much more clearly.

    Wonderful post!

Have a Blessed (and quiet) day!
