Are you a roller coaster fan? I am! I love getting on a roller coaster. Two summers ago, we purchased season passes to the local amusement park. We went so often that by the end of summer my equilibrium was way off, causing me to get car sick every single time I sat in the car. But I wouldn't have traded it. I love being on a coaster!
If you have ever been on a roller coaster, you have probably seen the chicken exit. It is that one last chance to 'chicken out' of the wild ride. You anxiously wait in line and then you get close to your turn. You see the car and wonder how you will safely stay inside. You hear the loud rattles of the tracks. You see the fear in the eyes of a few riders. Then you decide to use that chicken exit!
Are we like that spiritually? We anxiously wait to be used by God. We know it will be exciting and rewarding. Then we get close. We see what we need to do. What we need to sacrifice. We become afraid of messing up or looking stupid. We decide we just can not go through with it. We start looking for the chicken exit.
Friends, when God uses us, it can wild and unknown. But we never need to be fearful. God has great plans for us when we allow Him to use us.
Will you go for a ride on the spiritual coaster or take the chicken exit?
Sweet Blessings~
I like the way you put these two together. It is awesome what God can and will do for us when we obey Him when He wants us to do something for Him. He is always there to help, if we mess up He is still there to help us get out of the mess. He wants us to "brave it' and do what He wants us to. Thanks for a really great post and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteThe message on Sunday was so good! I want to stay on this wild ride with Jesus. It is full of ups and downs, but I know that no matter what, I am safe in His arms. Jesus is always worth it. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThis resonated with me with what Eileen wrote on her blog this morning Jenifer. If we allow God's Spirit to guide us, it can certainly take us outside our "comfort zone", but it puts us exactly where he desires us to be!

ReplyDeleteThank you for your post. Something is coming up in my life, and I pray that I won't take the chicken exit.

I have never been on a roller coaster, so I had no idea there was a "chicken exit". What I am going through right now is learning to stay patient and wait on God to bring about the answer. And to not try to "help". I do that so often and surprise! things usually get messed up.
