Now think of this. You desire to become closer to God. You start spending time with Him each and every day. You read the Word. You sing praises. Oh, how close you feel to God now! You have reached the place you wanted to be. That intimate place and you have a beautiful relationship with Jesus. So why push so hard now? You have what you desired. You can cut your daily quiet times back from an hour to twenty minutes. You can spend less time worshiping Him. You have what you need. Right? Wrong.
As I write this, Dory's (from Finding Nemo) song keeps running through my head. "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming." We need to just keep seeking Him. When you reach the place you want to be, reach farther. When you feel like you can't dig into the Word anymore, you read it, you know it, dig deeper.
When you think you have 'arrived' just know that you really haven't. I challenge you, take your relationship a step farther. If you read two chapters in the Bible each day, read four. If you sing worship songs for ten minutes, sing for twenty. If you journal a paragraph, journal a page. Do not ever feel as if you have made to the place you wanted to be so now you are done. We are never done.
Keep on seeking the Father.
Sweet Blessings~

ReplyDeleteJust keep seeking, just keep seeking, seeking, seeking! I think we had similar things on the brain this morning, Jenifer! Very nice reminder. We haven't "arrived" until we make it home and into the arms of our Savior!
ReplyDeleteI love this: When you think you have 'arrived' just know that you really haven't.
ReplyDeleteGod isn't ever finished talking to us and if we tune Him out, we will miss what He is offering us.
Love this, "When you reach the place you want to be, reach farther." Great, great encouragement!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I really needed to read this today! I'll keep in seeking!!

You know it's so funny and awesome that you quoted "just keep swimming" by Dory because I think of that quote ALL the time when I'm struggling along. Made me smile from ear to ear :) I never want to stop seeking Him! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post. It's a reminder of how fast we can fall when things are going our way, and we should always remember to put God first in our lives. Because He first loved us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so true!
