I'm Tired Of Trying, I Quit!

Do you ever just get tired of doing good?

You speak kind and loving to your spouse, yet they continue to hurt you.

You try so hard to be a good parent, but your kids still disobey constantly.

You pray for a loved one, yet they continue their addiction.

You invite your neighbor to church every week, but they have never been.

Sometimes we we get tired of trying and want to just give up.  After all, why waste time asking someone to church when they just won't come?  Why pray for someone to stop an addiction when they don't want to stop?  Why not just quit?

  1. I know what you mean when you say you are tired and want to just give up. The only thing when we give up we are the loser not just who we are asking and praying for. Thanks for a great post.

Have a great day and blessings to you.

  5. This post couldn't have come at a better time for me. I JUST had a girlfriend call saying they wanted to quit! they're tired of trying... and this is the verse I gave her after we prayed about it.

(and I LOVE that our one word is the same!)

    (and what a fun giveaway!)

    Blessings to you,
    Nikki

  6. Hi Jenifer - love this post. i do get tired, tired of not always seeing the results of our commitment to be a good wife or mother or friend, although I'm sure I fail often! But this scripture encourages us to keep keeping on AND with a good attitude. Great reminder. thank you for linking up with me yesterday. So appreciate it and love seeing you there.
    God bless

  7. Sometimes it can be so hard to keep going when we aren't seeing the results. But we must remember that it's not up to us to produce the results, we are just called to be faithful to the task.

    Many blessings!

  8. Jenifer,

I totally get wanting to give up when it looks like nothing happening, I heard in sermon a while back that when we are ready to give up a break through is right around the corner. Never give up even when you want to because you never know when God will show up.

    Blessings to you Jenifer.

  10. Oh how tempting it can be to give up--on a wayward daughter, on a father who shuts you out, a church stuck in the past. But I have found first hand, God is at work, even in these frustrating and seemingly impossible situations.
    Great post, Jenifer!
    Blessings!

  11. I know what you mean. It's so hard at times to stay on the path of encouragement when those around you don't even seem to want to try. I have to always remember to put my faith in HIM and not on people. Those discouraging moments remind me of how our sweet father must feel about us at times....and how he just continues to patiently love us...even though. =)
    God Bless!

  12. You are so right! I am praying for three people in my family and I will not give up until I see them living in right relationship with God.

  13. At our former church, there was a man who became a Christian when he was in his early 80s. Somewhere someone had been praying for him. You are right, it is important to never give. up.

    Blessings,
    Joan
