New Year's and Blessings

Happy New Year friends!  I trust that you had a wonderful celebration to ring in the new year?  We had family and friends over for food and games, it was a great time!

I said before that I don't typically make New Year's resolutions but that I do think it is a good idea to evaluate the past year, see where you can improve and pray about it.

In our church we have a time of dialogue.  This is where one of the pastors will come up and ask questions that have to do with that day's sermon and get the congregation thinking and talking.  It is always so great hear what everyone has to say.  Yesterday Pastor asked about New Year's resolutions.  He asked why do they not work.  The most typical response was lack of accountability.

I can completely understand that.  I mentioned that I was doing the Bible in 90 days reading program.  It is a lot of reading each day.  I need my accountability ladies to hold me in check.  I need that extra push and encouragement.

Whether you set a resolution or just have something you would like to improve on, I greatly encourage you to find an accountability partner.  Someone to go through this journey with you.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Continuing to count my blessings:
  • Husband working hard to clean the yard and garage.
  • Family and friends to celebrate a holiday with.
  • New friends meeting old ones.
  • Having the kids' friends stay over for the evening.
  • New opportunities for my son.
  • Relaxing on a Sunday afternoon.
  • Painting the beautiful fingers of my daughter and seeing that even though she has many tumors covering each finger, God has heard the cries of a mama's heart and her wedding ring finger is clear of tumors and she will be able to someday wear a wedding ring without pain.
A new year and new beginnings.

What are you praising God for today?

Sweet Blessings~

  3. Visiting from A Holy Experience! You can do the Bible Reading Challenge! I signed up for the July-October session, never having opened the Bible to read before. I couldn't believe what a quick nightly habit the reading had become. My life will never be the same. It is a ton of reading - and no time to ponder or delve deeper - but so worth it. A couple of days ago, I started a new Bible challenge on my own, a 365-day chronological Bible. Many blessings to you on your journey!

  4. Carrie, thank you! I am loving the challenge so far. I did the one year chronological Bible last year and LOVED it!

  5. Wonderful list of blessings, Jenifer. God cares about the things that matter to us - like keeping Grace's finger clear of tumors. :)

    Many blessings, sweet friend!

  6. Very good post, my friend. Accountability does play a big part in keeping people on task, doesn't it. That is why we need each other, we are not meant to be islands unto our selves.
I missed your post about the disease that your sweet daughter has. I am so sorry that she has to deal with this. My own daughter had cancer when she was was 16, she went through the treatment, but it left her with some problems that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. God has been extremely good to her, though and she realizes that.
I am thanking God for my children and grandchildren today. They have blessed my life and made it so rich!
    Love and hugs, Cindy
