The Word tells us in Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." And Ecclesiasters 4:9-10 says that, "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can pick the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to pick him up."
When you are going through something, sickness, marriage problems, problems with the kids, anything at all, don't shut your friends out. Go to them. Let them "sharpen" you, let them pick you up. Let them encourage you and pray with you. We all need each other.
I am so very thankful for my community of sweet sisters. Women I know I can count on. Women I know will be there for me when I fall or need sharpened.
Friends, when you are struggling, don't give up. Turn to your friends to be lifted up.

ReplyDeleteI know that the strength of community sure helps me when I'm struggling. The times that have been the darkest in my life are those where I had no support system around me, and I never want to revisit such loneliness. Thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteExcellant advice! It's easy to shut others out...whether it be because we are embarrassed or we are hurt or whatever. The biggest thing is to stay in communication with God and with those in your support system!
ReplyDeleteI so agree! Let the sisters in Christ help when you've been wounded. Licking your wounds in private just doesn't seem to be what we need.
ReplyDeleteGod bless!
