This week I learned something new. Something so powerful. Something awesome.
You likely know that when Jesus was crucified, He had a sign above His head saying "This is Jesus King of Jews." In that time, whenever someone was arrested or crucified, their offense would be written out and placed over their cell or where they were crucified. Jesus' offense was being the King of the Jews.
Here is what I learned; once the sentence was over (or if crucified, once they died), once the debt was paid, they went back over the written offense and wrote, "It is finished." This was telling everyone that the offense has been taken care of, the debt was paid.
What did Jesus say just before He died?
It is finished.
Jesus was saying that it is over. It has been taken care of. Our debt is paid!
He did this for you. He did this for me. He did this out of selfless love. He did this to one day spend eternity with us in Heaven!
But it didn't end there on the cross! No. His body was placed in that tomb only for Him to rise again on the third day! Praise God, He has risen! Hallelujah!
Friends, I pray you have a wonderful and blessed Easter holiday and that you spend time worshiping the risen King!
Sweet Blessings~

ReplyDeleteRev 1.18
18And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).
Colossians 2.14-16
Amplified Bible (AMP)
14Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared [a]completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.
15[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
Worth Celebrating!
