Give Me Some Time

I love music.  I love to listen to music all of the time.  And when I am in the car, I like my music loud!  My husband is always very careful when he turns the car on after I've been driving because he knows there will be a worship cd blaring loud.  A few times I have pulled into the driveway and he says he can hear my music from inside the house.  {smiles}  It is very easy to get into the car and turn on Klove or a worship cd and crank it up.  But what if I turn the music off and talk with my kids...

My kids love to play outside.  They ride bikes, play basketball, skateboard and sometimes just run around.  I love being outside but with so much to do I am often stuck in the house cleaning or working.  I have taken the laptop outside and worked as the kids play.  But what if I put down all of the work and play with my kids...

Our kids {grandkids, nieces, nephews} are only this age once.  You will only get today once.  Work can wait.  The dishes are not going anywhere, the laundry will still be there later and what is really more important than giving our kids our time?

This week my son made an obstacle course out of outside toys and wanted his sister and I to compete with him.  I had so much to do but saw that anticipation in his eyes so I went outside.  Guess what?  I had a really good time.  We laughed, ran and ended up in a tickle fight right in the front yard.  I don't always give in, but it is time I start.  It is time to give the kids more of me.

I know life demands so much from us.  I understand.  Believe me busy friend, I get it.  But if you really think about it, what is more important; a new episode of your favorite tv show, washing the dishes, writing a new blog post, painting your nails, cleaning out the garage or make memories with your kids?

Today I encourage you to prioritize your life.  Make it a point to do something with your kids.  Don't listen from the other room or watch from the window, go do it with them.  Laugh.  Enjoy being a parent.  Enjoy making memories they will cherish for years to come.

*Tomorrow I will post a list of fun things to do with your kids.  Please join me.

I am honored and blessed to be the featured blogger at Leaving a Legacy this month!  Please stop by my dear friend's blog.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Sometimes I am just so tired...and I feel guilty when I don't make the time to do small things with my kids. I think of those who would give anything to even have kids. Thanks for the reminder :) I pray God will motivate me to spend more quality time with those He has blessed me with!

  2. I agree with you, time spent with our kids should be a top priority. This is not something I am perfect at, but with the Lord's help I'm trying, Their only young once. We can't waste this time!

    Blessings~

  4. Thank you for an amazing, heart warming post. I know that when I do drop everything to do "stuff" (not school) with my kids, we all end up with smiles and laughter! I often forget that in the moment though...when I am "so busy." Thanks for the reminder!
