"...train yourself to be Godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things..." 1 Timothy 4:7-8
When I hear the word train I automatically think of the Olympics. Each participant in the Olympic games trains hard. They train for many hours every single day. They spend time practicing their sport as well as exercising. You will never see someone enter the Olympics who does not train daily. This physical training is important, but as the above verse says, it is of some value.
The Word tells us that we need to train. Train to be Godly. Godliness has value for all things. Not some but all.
How can we train to be Godly?
- Read the Word every single day. Even if you cannot sit down and spend thirty minutes at a time reading, read a verse or two at a time several times a day. If you read a couple of verses in the morning, a couple at lunch, dinner and at bed time, you can easily read a chapter a day. Time spent in the Word is never time wasted.
- Pray every single day. The Word tells us to pray continually {1 Thess 5:17}. That doesn't mean to be on our knees by the bedside twenty-four hours a day but to be in an attitude of prayer at all times. Just because you say amen and walk away doesn't mean you have to stop talking to God. Talk to Him many times throughout the day.
- Worship every single day. Remain in an attitude of worship. We can worship God by singing praises to Him, I love having Christian radio or worship cds playing all of the time. We can also worship by serving others, being kind, praying for others, and teaching our kids about God.
These are three great ways to train to be Godly. Are you going to train today?

Great post!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhy are 3 simple steps SO hard to do consistently? I try to 'train' on a regular basis, but it is hard to maintain a balance!
ReplyDeleteWe need to pin this to our hearts! Lovely... thanks!
