I live in the Midwest. Last summer we had such little rain that we were in a drought. A couple of times it would look cloudy as though it just might rain. Hope began to rise. Sprinkles of rain would start to come and we would get excited, only for it to last a few moments. Everywhere we looked green was turning brown as grass, flowers and even trees were dying. Ponds were drying up. Rivers were at a bare minimum.

We were desperate for rain. We needed it. We wanted it. We craved it. We cried out "God, just let it rain!"

Then one day we had a good steady rain for a couple of hours. I wanted to go out and dance in it. Friends and family were updating social media with excited comments about rain. Pictures of rain drops and wet sidewalks were posted. We were thrilled to the point of tears that rain was coming down.

I want that desperation for God.

I want the flood gates of Heaven to open up and rain His Spirit down on me.  On my family, on my church, on my friends. I want to see God moving. I want to feel Him in a mighty, powerful way.

God, I am desperate for You. Rain down, Father. Rain Your Spirit down. Flood us with Your majesty. Show Yourself to us and fill us to overflowing. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Are you ready for the flood gates of Heaven to rain on you?

  1. At my house, some friends and I were just talking about how last summer we were so desperate for rain but this summer we've had flooding warnings. Quite a contrast! It's good to remember that the rain always comes.

  3. Yes, I want that feeling, too. Lord, rain down!
