Jenifer, I have to tell you that I think movies like this one "I'm in Love with a Church Girl" are very dangerous and definitely not biblical. I don't want to come across as hard nosed, but... I have known of "Church" girls that have had crushes on "bad" boys and they have been drawn into marriage, had children with that bad boy and lived to see their children molested and sexualized at very early ages by the dad and his friends, while the mom was working. Those kids are now living with problems that came out of BAD decisions made by moms who fell for "bad" boys. I have read so called Christian novels depicting love stories where a Christian woman or man falls in love with a non-Christian and everything turns out just find in the end. Those are dangerous and NOT Biblical. I know that you know the Bible and you will have to agree with me if you've ever seen a life or lives destroyed by such a relationship.
ReplyDeleteAnd because you have girls, I hope you would never let them watch such a movie. Some girls who grow up in Church where everything is loving and safe, have a desire to see the other side of life. They feel nurturing and want to help a poor soul who is caught up in it and don't know what a wonderful thing a Godly life is. And they have a hard time believing that it could possibly be as bad as we say it is. Until they are in it and feel trapped because now they have a baby and on and on it goes.
I feel very strongly about this and I just had to say it. Cindy
Cindy,
DeleteThank you for your honesty. I hadn't thought of it that way.
My personal story is that my husband was not a Christian when we met. He was told by me and my parents that I would never date a man that didn't serve God. He began to come to church just to see me and ended up getting saved. PRAISE GOD! But I know this is not always the case.
You are so right that we do need to be careful of what we let our kids see. Thank you so much for sharing your side of this!!
