For The Mom Searching for Sanity

Motherhood is the most beautiful calling. Rewarding and precious beyond words. We love our children. We would lay our life down for them without even blinking. Yet, sometimes, motherhood is hard. No matter how prepared we think we are to raise these little people, it just isn't always easy.

Some days we feel like we are hitting our head on a brick wall. Why won't these kids listen? When will the dishes end? When will he finally be potty trained? Why am I so tired? The list goes on and on.

Have you ever thought if only we had a parenting manual?

Mom, we do have a manual. The Word of God. The Bible has so much wisdom for us as we train our children.

Lindsey Bell encourages us in her devotional, Searching for Sanityto look to the Bible and the examples God placed there for us. Searching for Sanity is a year long devotional looking to parents in the Bible. Each week has a devotional, Scripture, and reflection questions and each day has short activities for encouragement.

I love how Lindsey tells us to worship with our family, play with our family and to seek out other mothers experiencing what we are. Searching for Sanity is an incredible, must-read book for all moms.

  1. The hardest thing I think for me was breaking a promise.. and just breaking my children's heart. That is so hard for me.

  4. The hardest part of parenting for me is when there is something happening to them that is completely out of my control. It's hard to not be able to help them. I have to put complete faith and trust in God to be there for them when I can't.

  6. The hardest part of parenting for me is not having a mom, grandma or mentor to call on for wisdom. I'll be the first parent to say "please just tell me what to do because I haven't a clue" in certain situations. We all know motherhood/parenthood doesn't come with a manual, that would be too easy. Sometimes we just need someone who's "walked in these shoes" to pour wisdom into us.
