Often I tell people that I have my own mini zoo. Besides 4 children, we have 3 dogs, 1 guinea pig, 1 turtle, and an aquarium of fish. And we've had more at one time. Yes, our family has a special place in our hearts for animals.
Genesis chapter 1 tells us how God created animals on the 5th and 6th days. While I am sure that God created animals for several purposes, some we may never know, I believe one of those purposes is to bring us joy.
Because of our love for animals, I was thrilled to see the new movie Susie's Hope. Susie's Hope is a movie based on a true story based on Donna and Susie.
After being brutally attacked by a dog, Donna naturally became fearful. Until she found Susie. Susie, being a sweet puppy, licked the face of her owner's baby. Her owner became violent and beat Susie severely, breaking her jaw. That wasn't enough for this owner. He then set Susie on fire and left her for dead. When Donna happened upon Susie, she fought for her life. Check out the trailer:
Donna and Susie now have a non-profit organization to promote education and awareness of the care and responsibility required in owning pets as well as animal safety around unfamiliar animals. You can donate to Susie's Hope HERE.
