Be A Doer

Each day my children and I sit around our dining table for homeschool. They each have their school laptop and paper and pencils for note taking. As we go through our homeschool day, the kids will ask for my help. It always starts out with one of the kids stating the problem out loud to me. I hear it. I listen and try to process the problem. I don't get it. I walk over and read what they are doing. Most of the time reading the question or problem doesn't help either. I need to actually do the problem. I have to work through it to find out what to do. Then I am able to help them.

Isn't that how many of us are? We can hear something, even read it, but to fully understand, we need to do it. Statistics say 20% of people learn by hearing, only 10% of people learn by reading, but a big 70% of people learn by doing.

We hear the Bible as it is preached to us at church and we read the Bible. But are we doing what it says?

But be doers of the Word,
and not hearers only,
deceiving yourselves.
James 1:22

The Bible tells us to not just be hearers of the Word but to also be doers. We need to do what the Bible says. Put into practice what we read in God's Word and what our pastors preach to us.

Today, I challenge you to be a doer of the Word.
