Tomorrow is National Day of Encouragement. This is a day that we encourage someone. Who? Anyone! After all, we all need encouragement. I cannot tell you how many times I was struggling and no one knew, yet at the perfect moment the mailman would deliver a hand written card from someone who wanted to encourage me. Then there is the time our neighbor crocheted two beautiful blankets for my grandparents. The blankets might have been for them, but I was encouraged because of her kindness and generosity.
My daughter was recently encouraged in a big way. She is away at college and one of her books is pretty pricey. She was stressing a little about how to get the book. She went to chapel in the morning and the college pastor was speaking on blessings. He directly called her out and asked her to come up. He handed her $63. Later that day she opened a care package from us and her grandparents. Her grandfather placed a hundred dollar bill in there to bless her. $163. The cost of her book. She was encouraged.
Think about it. Who can you encourage? Who can you buy a donut and coffee for? Who can you send a card to? Who can you babysit for (for free) so they can rest? Who can you help run errands? Who can you make dinner for? Everywhere you look you will find person after person after person who needs encouragement.
