COZY MINIMALIST HOME

I have always wanted my home to look nice, yet look cozy. I don't want a show house. I want a warm, inviting, lived in home. But, I also want clean, organized, and nice. Having both isn't impossible.

For a long time I wanted knick knacks, you know, little decorations or things all over. I thought that made it look nice. More pillows, more pictures, more things. Then I realized that I just had too much stuff. Dusting all those knick knacks and pictures took far too much time. Time I would much rather devote to my family.

In her new book Cozy Minimalist Home, Myquillyn Smith says, "Instead of being a Stuff Manager, start thinking of yourself as a Chief Home Curator. A curator is the protector of what comes in and what goes out. It's an important part of making home that we often forget about because buying pillows is more fun than being mindful of how much stuff has come into our home."

As the keeper of my home, or the Chief Home Curator as Myquillyn calls us, it is my job to make sure my home is not becoming too stuffed with unnecessary stuff. Myquillyn says, "We need homes that truly serve us and our families, homes that look the way we want them to look so we can use them the way we feel called to use them. We need homes that are both cozy and minimalist in all the right ways."

In Cozy Minimalist Home, Myquillyn, also known as the Nester, teaches us to find our style and how to accomplish that style in a cozy yet minimalist way. This helps us to make our houses homes and to be good stewards of what God has blessed us with.
