I love the new year! There may not be anything magical about January 1st, but to me there is something so fresh and special about the new year. A few weeks ago I finalized my One Word and Powersheet goals and I am so excited for this year!
In 2022, my One Word was peace. I wanted to seek the peace of God. While I do feel as I grew in that area, I never feel as though I arrive with my One Words because I believe there is always room for growth. My Powersheet goals were my faith, marriage, family, health, finances, ministries, friendship, and fun. Again, I definitely made progress in these areas and cultivated good things, but I believe there is still room to grow.
That leads me to my One Word and Powersheets goals for 2023! Drumroll please....
My word for 2023 is two words actually: draw near. In 2022, our women's ministry at church had a focus of drawing near to God. This theme really resonated with me so I wanted to continue with it in 2023.
I want to draw near to God in every area of my life. I want to know Him, feel Him, and see Him. I want to feel Him draw near to me, and as James 4:8 says, in order to feel Him draw near, I have to draw near.
So in 2023 I will work on drawing near to God. My plan to do this is to:
- continue my daily quiet time
- read through the entire Bible
- do in depth Bible study
- journal
- use Write the Word journals daily
- cultivate a passionate prayer life
- read a devotional and Scripture before bed
- work on Scripture memory
Drawing near to the Lord, to come closer to, to approach, is always beneficial, it's always a blessing, and it always has an eternal reward.
My
Powersheets goals are often the same from year to year because these are areas of my life that are the most important to me and I want to continue to grow and cultivate them. The six areas I am working on is my faith, marriage, family, finances, ministries, and health.
Faith - This goal goes along with my One Word so my action steps will be the same.

- do in depth Bible study
- journal

- cultivate a passionate prayer life

- take vitamins and prescriptions every day
- work out five days a week
- less sugar
With each of these goals I have daily, weekly, and monthly action items to work towards and I can keep track of those on the Tending List in my
Powersheets Goal Planner. Each afternoon I mark of my daily habits if I have completed them. Every Tuesday for Tending List Tuesday, I go through my weekly habits and mark those off and then I take a look at my monthly habits.
Using the
Powersheets Goal Planner helps me to keep track of how I am doing. I can see my progress, celebrate the wins no matter how small they may be, and see where I am not making progress so that I know I need to work on that particular goal.
I keep my
Powersheets Goal Planner on my desk, but will often carry it with me to the kitchen. I love how
Powersheets have helped me through the years. They've helped me with big picture goals like writing my
devotionals, and with every day habits.
There you have it! My One Word for 2023 and my goals using my
Powersheets Goal Planner! I am excited for 2023 and ready to grow good things this year!
Do you choose a One Word or goals? What are you working on this year? Share in the comments and let's encourage each other!
