MY BAG, MY STORY {GIVEAWAY}

Every single day children and teens all over the United States are pulled from their home, whether pulled from their families or pulled from a temporary residence. These children are only allowed to take with them a handful of personal items. Items they have to carry in their arms or throw into a garbage or grocery bag. Then, they walk out of their home leaving behind so much.

Just put yourself in their shoes for a moment. You're playing and suddenly told to grab and few things. You can't carry everything, so you walk away from a favorite toy, new shoes, comfy pillow, and much more. Then you walk out of the door not knowing what lies ahead. It'd devasting to say the least.

My Bag, My Story is an initiative to help. Cara Finger, creator of My Bag, My Story, says, "I started My Bag, My Story after becoming a foster parent and watching children always having their belongings in a trash bag or grocery sack or nothing. Everyone kept saying this was normal. I said it doesn’t have to be normal, so I set out to have bags made for kids. Having a bag to call your own instead of a trash bag gives a child dignity and makes them feel valued. A bag seems so small but makes a huge difference in their foster care experience. Making a child feel like they are worth more than trash is so important to me."

Every time you buy a duffle bag, backpack, or pouch, one is donated to a foster child. Through its donation program, every dollar donated goes towards giving a child in foster care a bag they can call their own. My Bag, My Story has partnered with over 30 Tennessee-based organizations who work directly with children in the foster care system in order to get them high-quality duffel bags and backpacks.

You can help brighten a horrible situation for a child or teen in the foster care system by ordering a new bag today. For more info and to shop, click HERE.

  1. This is such a wonderful project for foster children. It saddens me to think about them bringing their belongings in a trash bag. Tarter95@hotmail.com
