Come to Me, all of you who
are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 CSB
Last week my husband and I went on a vacation. We are pro-vacations! Everyone needs time away to rest, recoup, and make memories. We had a wonderful time and felt rested and refreshed.
Then, we drove home. After driving for ten hours, we were only two and a half hours from home when out of nowhere a deer ran out. There was absolutely nothing we could do. We are okay, our truck, however, is not. Then the day after we got home, I woke up with the flu and felt miserable.
What happened to our rest? What happened to feeling rested and refreshed? Vacation is wonderful. Time away is wonderful. Doing the things we love is wonderful. And we may feel rest from these things. However, this kind of rest is temporary. True rest only comes from the Lord. The kind of rest He gives can't be taken away by deer with a death wish, viruses that invade our body, or anything else. His rest is rest that seeps into our heart and soul and fills us up to overflowing. That is something to be thankful for.
What is something you are thanking God for today?
Continuing to count God's sweet blessings...
3750. My oldest grandson who turns 4 this week!
3751. A vacation with my husband, three of our kids, and two of our grandkids.
3752. Watching sunsets over the ocean.
3753. Seeing the grandkids explore and have fun.
